  • Dear Friends of the United Way:

As we launch our 2019 Fall Campaign on September 5, we hope you will remember the many lives United Way touches and support our efforts to assist the 34 social service agencies and community impact programs we fund with your dollars here in Whiteside County to continue to create better communities for us all.

This Labor Day, we all celebrate the accomplishments of workers around the globe.

At the United Way, we understand that Labor Day is more than just a day off work: we believe that working – laboring – together can transform communities and create effective and sustainable change.

That is why one of our most important mottos is “Live United.” Our mission is to provide dynamic leadership that unites people and resources to create lasting change.

Right now, we are working closely with other community partners in a highly collaborative effort to address substance abuse in Whiteside County. The organizations that work together to create solutions to our community’s greatest needs – substance abuse, poverty, homelessness, and other struggles – are passionate about bringing solutions, and here at the United Way, we are proud to be a part of that collaborative effort.

United Way also honors the historic labor movement for its contributions that changed our country’s child labor laws and safety in the workplace, among other accomplishments. The AFL-CIO and United Way Community Partnership began after WWII with efforts to rebuild our communities. Now almost 80 years later, United Ways and labor are continuing to work together to tackle the toughest issues facing our communities.

United Way has made a difference for 74 years in Whiteside County for millions of people from all walks of life: parents, children, teachers, elders, and those who just need a hand up.

With your continued support, we can do even more. Because together, we are fearless.
